Micro
Dermabrasion
Medical micro dermabrasion is a technique which
uses a diamond shaped crystals and suction to clean and abrade
the skin. It is used to resurface and smooth the skin, removing
the outer layer of dead cells, providing deep cleansing and
increased circulation to refresh and regenerate. With repeated
treatments it results in permanent smoothing of the skin surface
and any irregularities. |

Our cosmetic nurse Gabrielle McCrae is trained
in micro dermabrasion and can perform the procedure for you
at the Ellenbrook Medical Centre. It is a painless procedure
requiring no anaesthesia, and there is little or no recovery
time as there is no discomfort after treatment.
After micro dermabrasion your skin may appear red due to
increased circulation, however this fades within a day or
two. Some people's skin peels for up to three days after treatment
- this is perfectly normal and actually enhances the benefits
of the treatment.

Medical micro dermabrasion can be used to treat
scarring virtually anywhere on the body, and is helpful in
the treatment of acne and open pores on the face. It is also
used for its anti-ageing properties, as it can remove sun
damage and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Micro dermabrasion generally requires multiple treatments
over a period of time to achieve optimum results. How many
treatments and how regularly you will require them depends
on the condition being treated, so please consult your doctor. |

The crystals used during micro dermabrasion are
the same as those used on nail files.
Most people say micro dermabrasion feels a little
scratchy, and is quite comfortable and enjoyable.
